Dennis C. Hutschenreiter is a postdoctoral researcher in the Financial Markets Department at the Halle Institute for Economic Research – Member of the Leibniz Association. His fields of specialization are corporate finance, governance and innovation economics. Dennis received his PhD from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Barcelona School of Economics, in Spain.

The authors find that large institutional investors encourage internal research and development but discourage firm acquisitions that would add patents and knowledge to their firms’ portfolios, hampering overall innovation.
