Sarah Kreps

Sarah Kreps is the John L. Wetherill Professor of Government, Adjunct Professor of Law, and Director of the Tech Policy Institute at Cornell University. She is also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Her research focuses on the intersection of emerging technology, geopolitics, and national security. Her most recent book, Harnessing Disruption: Building the Tech Future Without Breaking Society (Oxford University Press, 2026), examines how societies can anticipate and govern the disruptions created by transformative technologies, from nuclear weapons to artificial intelligence. Kreps has advised members of Congress, the White House, and industry on emerging technology policy. She holds a BA from Harvard University, an MSc from Oxford University, and a PhD from Georgetown University, and previously served as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force.
