Jana Friedrichsen

Jana Friedrichsen is a professor at the Institute of Economics at Kiel University. Prior to that, she had held academic positions at Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, WZB Berlin Social Science Center and DIW. She holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim. Her research lies in the areas of applied microeconomic theory and behavioral and experimental economics. Her research often deals with the effects of reputational concerns and consumer preferences for fairness and sustainability on individual behavior and markets.

Across three studies, Jana Friedrichsen, Julia Schwarz, and Michel Clement explore how generative AI will change the music industry. They find that while consumers enjoy and even prefer AI-generated music, preferences shift upon learning that the song was AI-generated.
