Alison Johnston

Alison Johnston is Professor in Political Science and Public Policy at Oregon State University.  Her research interests focus on how politics impact market actors’ assessment of sovereign risk in high income countries. Her recent book (co-authored with Zsofia Barta) Rating Politics: Sovereign Credit Ratings and Democratic Choice in Prosperous Developed Countries details how credit rating agencies discriminate against left governments and certain types of spending policies when evaluating governments’ credit ratings. She is currently a lead editor at the Review of International Political Economy.
