Cree Jones is an Associate Professor of Law at BYU Law School. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. His research explores timely questions at the intersection of law and economics, including international trade, international investment, administrative law, intellectual property, contracts, and crime.

In new research, Cree Jones, Tyler B. Lindley, and Thomas Smith investigate how restrictions on the president to remove independent agency officials affect agency behavior. Such restrictions have historically had surprisingly little effect. However, recent political polarization has drastically increased the importance of removal restrictions in blocking political influence.
