Richard Scheffler

Richard Scheffler is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the School of Public Health and the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley. He serves as the Director of the Nicholas C. Petris Center on Health Care Markets and Consumer Welfare. Much of his research has focused on healthcare markets nationally and in California. More recently, he has published numerous papers and reports on private equity and the healthcare markets. He has been an advisor to the Federal Trade Commission on the impact of private equity on health markets, testifying as an expert witness on numerous cases. In 2019, he was appointed by Governor Newsom to the Healthy California Commission. Scheffler has published over 300 papers and edited and written twelve books.
