Marshall Van Alstyne

Marshall Van Alstyne is the Allen and Kelli Questrom Professor in Information Systems at Boston University, a Fellow at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy (IDE), and Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Berkman-Klein Center. He co-developed the theories of two-sided markets and the inverted firm with Geoffrey G Parker. His work focuses on the economics of information, including a sustained interest in information markets and in how information and technology affect productivity with an emphasis on “platforms” as an extension of two-sided market research.
